How it works

Lightnido is an AI bot in our family Discord server, Kindex. It helps the family with gospel questions and keeps an eye on the family journal. Here is what it does.

Replies when you talk to it

Mention Lightnido in a channel, or send it a direct message, and it replies. Otherwise it stays quiet and doesn't jump into conversations.

Answers are short and plain. It tries to answer the actual question, and it may suggest one practical next step. It uses scripture when it fits, not in every reply.

Direct messages

In a DM it remembers recent messages, so you can pick up where you left off. It also keeps a short private memory for each person, such as your name or things you asked it to keep in mind.

Type “remember …” to save something, or “forget …” to remove it. Your DM memory is only used in your own DMs.

The journal channel

The family posts what happened in their week in the journal channel. Lightnido may reply to those posts briefly. It uses the names people actually used.

The Wednesday note

Every Wednesday at 5 PM Mountain Time, Lightnido posts a short devotional note in the journal channel. It looks back at the past week of family posts and picks out one gospel lesson. When a verse fits, it includes one, usually from the Book of Mormon.

If it's unsure of a verse, it leaves it out rather than guessing. Family Home Evening is on Mondays, so the Wednesday note never says “tonight’s FHE.”

Quiet-week check-ins

If the server has been quiet for a few days, Lightnido may post one short, friendly message. It doesn't point out that things have been quiet, and it doesn't ask people to post more. It skips this when the Wednesday note is close.

Where things live

Family messages, photos, and journals stay in Discord. This website doesn't show them. See Privacy and what it won't do.
